Our Mission
TravelKannur.in was created with one simple goal — to help travellers discover the real Kannur. Not just the famous beaches, but the ancient Theyyam rituals, the misty hill stations, the serene backwaters and the extraordinary Malabar food culture that makes this corner of Kerala unlike anywhere else on earth.
Kannur is one of India's most culturally rich destinations, yet most travel websites give it just a paragraph or two. We believe it deserves much more. Every page on this site is written with genuine knowledge and love for this region.
We provide the only complete English-language Theyyam Calendar for Kannur, daily beach conditions, hill station trekking guides and authentic local food recommendations — content that exists nowhere else online.

Who runs Travel Kannur
Travel Kannur is an independent, one-person publication. The site is researched, written, photographed and maintained by a Kannur native who has spent years travelling and documenting North Malabar. We are not affiliated with the Government of Kerala, DTPC Kannur, Kerala Tourism, or any hotel/tour operator.
If you'd like to know more, suggest an event, or send a correction, the fastest way to reach us is by email: info@travelkannur.in.
How we research & write
Every destination guide on this site is based on a combination of: first-hand visits, public sources (DTPC Kannur, Kerala Tourism, kannur.nic.in, kerala.gov.in), interviews with temple committees and local businesses, and reader corrections.
For the Theyyam Calendar, dates are cross-checked against the official DTPC Kannur schedule and Kerala Tourism's Theyyam Calendar before publishing. We mark dates that are tentative or unconfirmed, and we revise the page whenever a temple committee announces a change.
We do not auto-generate destination content, restaurant reviews or Theyyam descriptions from other sites — those pages are written by a human editor. We use AI tools only for typo-checking, alt-text suggestions, and translation review.
Corrections policy
We want this site to be the most accurate Kannur travel resource on the open web. If you find a factual error — a wrong Theyyam date, a closed restaurant, an outdated price, a misspelt place name — please email info@travelkannur.in. We aim to correct verified errors within 48 hours and update the page's last-modified date in our sitemap.
How this site is funded
Travel Kannur is free to read. The site is supported by:
- Display advertising — third-party ads served via Google AdSense. We have no editorial control over which ads appear and do not endorse the products advertised.
- Affiliate links — in the future we may include affiliate links to hotel booking platforms (Booking.com, MakeMyTrip). We will earn a small commission only if you book through such links, at no extra cost to you. We will never recommend a hotel solely because it pays a commission.
We do not accept paid placements, paid reviews, or sponsored "best of" lists. Anything that ever becomes sponsored will be clearly labelled "Sponsored".
Why Kannur?
Kannur — also known as Cannanore — is the cultural capital of North Kerala. It sits on the Malabar Coast and has been a centre of trade, art and tradition for over a thousand years.
It is home to Theyyam — one of the world's oldest living ritual art forms, performed in hundreds of temples across the district every year between November and May. Watching a Theyyam is one of the most powerful cultural experiences available anywhere in India.
Beyond Theyyam, Kannur has Asia's longest drive-in beach at Muzhappilangad, the serene Kavvayi backwaters, dramatic hill stations and the incredible Malabar cuisine that food lovers travel across India to taste.
